Explore Dilworth Plaza via Park(ing) Day

Philadelphians explore Dilworth Plaza via OLIN and Center City District’s installation on Park(ing) Day.

OLIN participated in Park(ing) Day, an international event that invites people to transform public parking spaces into temporary parks, thus raising awareness about the value of open space in our communities. One of OLIN’s two entries for Park(ing) Day was a miniature version of Dilworth Plaza, the signature new public space currently under construction along the western edge of Philadelphia’s City Hall. The installation featured scaled-down interpretations of many of Dilworth Plaza’s design elements, such as moveable tables and chairs, performance spaces, and an interactive scrim fountain. In this video, Senior Landscape Architect Ben Monette and Landscape Designer Laura Rennekamp guide viewers through the design intent of both Dilworth Plazas—the version created for Park(ing) Day and the actual project, slated for completion in 2014.
