New Members of OLIN
OLIN is excited to welcome Jennifer Birkeland, James Phillips, Roberto Bio, Darrell Campana and Jennifer Martel, as new members of our design team.
Jennifer Birkeland (left) recently earned her Master of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. Jennifer, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, has worked as a Designer and Researcher for landscape architecture firms in California and Massachusetts. This past year Jennifer received an Honorable Mention in the Network Reset Competition, a major design challenge to re-structure the green space and streetscape of downtown Chicago. Jennifer joins OLIN as a Senior Landscape Designer.
James Phillips (second from the left), a Senior Landscape Designer, is already a familiar face in our studio, having assisted in the development of two of OLIN’s major competition entries. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University, James earned his Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He has received a number of honors throughout his academic career, including Past Presidents Award from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Florence S. McNeil Landscape Architecture Scholarship from Rutgers’ Department of Landscape Architecture.
A year after his OLIN Summer Internship, Roberto Bio (center) has returned to OLIN as a Landscape Designer. Roberto first earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy, and went on to receive a Master of Architecture from the University of Arizona. In addition, he recently completed a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon where he was awarded Honorable Mention in the Urban Land Institute/Hines Student Urban Design Competition. Roberto, who is fluent in English and Italian, has worked for design firms both in the United States and his native Italy.
Darrell Campana (second from the right), who graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Penn State University, has come to OLIN as a Senior Landscape Architect. Darrell’s professional career has spanned the East Coast, working with Fine Landscapes in Virginia, Okerstrom-Lang in Vermont and, most recently, Cole, Jenest & Stone in North Carolina.
Lastly, Landscape Architect Jennifer Martel (right) also joins OLIN with a diverse educational background and a wide range of professional experience. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from George Washington University, Jennifer earned her Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she won the Community Design Collaborative’s Logo Design Award and the Lowthorpe Travel Fellowship. After completing her education, Jennifer went on to spend six years with the Philadelphia-based firm Wallace Roberts & Todd as a manager, designer, illustrator and coordinator.
