As part of OLIN’s commitment to advancing the practice of landscape architecture, our studio continually participates in lectures and panel discussions on topics affecting the field today. Over the next few weeks, Partners Dennis McGlade, Skip Graffam and Laurie Olin will each present separate lectures, Dennis on regenerating historic landscapes for modern use, Skip on the connection between academia and professional practice, and Laurie on sustainable landscapes.
Bringing Historic Landscapes into the 21st Century
Dennis McGlade will address the challenges and opportunities of bringing new life to historic urban spaces, with a focus on the studio’s work at Chicago’s Midway Plaisance and New York City’s Bryant Park and The Metropolitan Museum of Art Fifth Avenue Plaza. The lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 21st at the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach in Palm Beach, FL.
Skip Graffam joins Temple University Associate Professor Baldev Lamba in a presentation to the 2012 Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The lecture will explore how educators and designers can bridge the gap between academia and the practice of landscape architecture. The conference will be held from Wednesday, March 28th through Saturday, March 31st at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign, IL.
Laurie Olin joins prominent landscape architects Mary Margaret Jones, Senior Principal-in-Charge at Hargreaves Associates, and Marion Pressley, Principal at Pressley Associates, in a panel focusing on solutions for high-performance landscapes. The series, presented by the United States General Services Administration, will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 290 Broadway in New York, NY.
