The Grande Cheese Company’s commitment to quality, nature, and the connection between people and exquisitely crafted food was an ethos its leaders wished to be represented in every detail of their new home office and landscape. Working in close collaboration with Grande and Overland Partners Architects, OLIN composed an interwoven series of productive landscapes that honor this rich culture and enable all employees to enjoy and draw inspiration from Wisconsin’s bountiful agricultural heritage. The entry drive to the home office takes a meandering, graceful path past a parking court enveloped Red Maple trees to the Arrival Piazza, which features a vibrant linear garden of flowering perennials. Beyond the piazza sits the Heritage Orchard, dedicated to Grande’s founder Fillipo Candela. The office building wraps around a central courtyard, where employees can gather around a fire pit and a massive custom-designed table. The activities of the building also spill out onto a terrace and kitchen garden replete with seasonal fresh herbs. To the west and south, more than half of the 40-acre site is preserved as orchards and meadows, which visitors can experience via a winding walking path.
