Partner and Director of Research
In our increasingly complex and resource-challenged world, Skip Graffam believes that landscape architects are best positioned to positively impact the built environment to engage a deeper social, economic, and cultural consciousness. He is a versatile designer with the ability to deftly balance input from communities, governments, designers, engineers, scientists, and other collaborators to create enduring public spaces. While many of his award-winning projects involve complex urban sites, such as Target Field Station in Minneapolis and Vallco Town Center in California, Skip’s practice extends across a wide range of scales, typologies, and environments, including residential landscapes in the Costa Rican rainforest, large scale urban planning and design at Camana Bay in the Caribbean, and the landmark campus design for Apple Park in Silicon Valley.
In addition to his role as a design partner, Skip is also OLIN’s Director of Research and helps to lead OLIN LABS, the studio’s in-house research and innovation incubator. His work in both design and research has enhanced the firm’s approach to brownfield site regeneration, transit-oriented development, the enhancement of sensitive cultural landscapes, and sustainable performance-based projects which integrate landscape, architecture, and infrastructure.
