Partner and Director of Research
As Partner and Director of Research, Skip Graffam leads design and planning projects as well as research initiatives that support OLIN’s contribution to the practice of landscape architecture, urban design and planning. OLIN’s research initiative is historically-grounded in academia, and explores and analyzes how landscape architecture can positively enhance life and environment in the 21st century. Skip is currently leading the competition-winning design for the Sylvan Theater at the Washington Monument on the National Mall as well as a comprehensive revitalization of Alexandria, Virginia’s historic riverfront, and he recently completed work on Target Field Station, a landmark multi-modal transit interchange and civic hub next to Target Field in Minneapolis.
Skip holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and he is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a frequent critic and lecturer at the University of Virginia, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University, where he previously served as an Assistant Professor. In 2010 Skip was one of three OLIN Partners to lead the first-ever studio on landscape architecture at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles.
